The Viennese Commodity Science Collection
- Diversification of database of the k. k. Consular-Academy

In this project the inventory-books of the k. k. Consular-Academy will be digitalised and completely reviewed and thereby the database of the collection will be completed. This project ist supported by funds of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (Anniversary Fund, project number: 15587)

Principal investigator: Dr. Susanne Gruber

Duration: July 2013 - June 2015

Aims:

Comprising more than 23,000 objects, the Commodity Science Collection is one of the largest collections of the Technisches Museum Wien. This collection encompasses the whole life cycle of commodities or trading goods. It showcases a wide array of minerals, vegetable and animal raw materials, semi-finished and finished products, in addition substitute materials, as well as whole production cycles.
The Oriental Museum was founded in 1874 to harbour the collection of exhibited artefacts. Together with the Commodities Collection of the k. k. Consular-Academy, the remaining parts were kept at the Institute of Technology at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
